Unit 2.2: Formatting a Works Cited Page in MLA

So, you have included quotes, paraphrases, or other information from sources in your paper. Often, your instructor will ask you to include a Works Cited page at the end of the essay. A Works Cited page is a list of sources that you have used in your paper. There are several popular citation styles that you might encounter in college including MLA, Chicago and APA.  In English 101 and in many of the humanities, we use MLA (Modern Language Association) format.

Citing sources makes it easier for readers to find key information about the sources that you used, places you within a larger conversation about a subject and by acknowledging your sources, you can avoid plagiarism.

After completing this unit, you should be able to 1) explain the purpose of a Works Cited page and 2) create and properly format a Works Cited page.
