Trying to control the pests in and around the home is a never-ending problem. There are insects all over that contaminate stored food, invading homes, animal diseases, infest pest, and ornamental plants, and vegetables. Pests can attack all of these things, so to help the homeowners, a wide array of pesticides have been developed to control the pest in and around the home and garden. Do people really know how safe pesticides are? If home pesticides are handled right they can be safe. Without being educated about the product or following the instructions giving on the label it will not be safe for people to use causing problems. Without using them properly it can lead to health problems for the user, other people, pets, and the environment. You should always read the labels before using any product. What really is a pesticide? A pesticide is a substance used to prevent the development of repel, destroy, or kill a pest. Pests are living organisms that injure or cause damage to buildings, plants, humans, and animals. To get rid of the pest people use pesticides. Most households use pesticides such as cockroach spray, rodent poisons, insect repellents, flea and tick spray, swimming pool chemicals, and weed killer. All of these pesticides are made up of one or more active ingredients and inert ingredients. The Integrated Pest Management is approach to pest management that uses a range of pest control method that is safe, cost-efficient, and environmentally sound. There goal is to prevent pest from reaching economically damaging levels. They can identify pests, measure pest population, assess damage levels, and identify available pest management methods. There are different types of controls that can do different things to pest. Some of the types are mechanical control, physical control, cultural control, genetic control, and chemical control. Mechanical control is the use of devices to prevent the spread of or reduce the infestation of pests. Physical control is the method that kills pests, disrupts their life cycle, makes the environment unfavorable for their survival. Cultural control is the use of routine management practices that disrupt the normal associations between a pest and its host, making the pests growth or reproduction less favorable. Genetic control is the use of plants and animals that are resistant to attack pests. Chemical controls is the use of naturally derived chemicals called pesticides that kill, inhibit, attract, repel, or otherwise control the growth of pest plants, animals, and microorganisms. All of theses things can help to get rid of pest. Choosing the proper pesticides, reading the pesticides labels and knowing how to use the pesticides are things that can keep pesticides safe for everyone.
